“How to have beautiful, gorgeous teeth by incorporating proper dental care into your daily routine”
It is all about routine folks! Anyone can be good and follow their dentist’s directions for the first couple of days, but that is not going to get you a mouth full of beautiful teeth. You need to make good dental hygiene your daily ritual. You need to take care of your teeth every day. It is not a big deal – you get up every morning, you eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and go to bed at night. You do these daily rituals every day, so if you can do those things then you can keep good dental hygiene too. Below are some simple daily rituals that you can easily incorporate into your life and boy what a difference it will make, especially when you see people checking out your beautiful smile.
Let us begin…
- Stick To Your Oral Health Routine - Based on what you learned from your prior discussions with your dentist, create a daily routine using suggestions given by your dentist based on your health, medical and oral health situations.
- Short and Sweet - Develop an oral routine that is easy to follow on a daily basis.
- Fluoride Is Necessary - Use fluoride to maintain healthy teeth. Children and adults benefit from fluoride use. Fluoride strengthens developing teeth in children and prevents tooth decay in both children and adults. Toothpastes and mouth rinses contain fluoride. Find out if the fluoride levels in tap water you drink is high enough. It may not be. Therefore, you may need to use supplements to help prevent tooth decay. Talk with your dentist about your fluoride needs. Ask if you should use fluoride supplements or a prescription-only fluoride product to get the fluoride you need in order to maintain excellent dental care.
- You Need to Brush And Floss Daily. Honestly, you should brush after every meal and snack. However, if you are not a constant brusher then you really need to brush your teeth at least twice a day (morning and before night) and floss at least once a day. When plaque combines with sugars, it forms acids that can lead to tooth decay. Bacterial plaque also causes gum disease and other periodontal diseases.
- Eat Healthy and Limit Your Snacking - Snacking is ok as long as you eat the right snacks and do not overdo it with unhealthy and sugary snacks (try yogurt, carrots, fruits etc…). Eat a variety of foods, but eat fewer foods that contain high level of sugar content and starches. Try to steer yourself away from cookies, cakes, pies, candies, ice cream, dried fruits and raisins, fizzy drinks, and crisps. These foods produce the most acids in the mouth, which begin the decaying process, and are best consumed at mealtimes as an after-dinner treat. If you must snack, brush your teeth afterwards or chew sugarless gum.
To look and feel your best you need to focus on what is really best for you. Get a head start by starting your good hygiene routine today. Who knows maybe with a little time and effort your smile will be on the next billboard or dental commercial. Boy, wouldn't that be nice!
